Day 7, N. Woodstock NH to Thetford Hill VT

We waited for the rain to pass this morning, or so we thought. Top of the first mountain it was pouring. The backside downhill was a BLAST!!!! Hit 44.4mph but the GPS download only shows 42.1mph max!! What's up with that???? The rain was like needles on my forehead. No rain at bottom then nice river valley ride. Oh and I was interviewed by a local news paper, but neglected to even ask the name of the paper, Doh

No Cars Allowed! But trikes can pass easily:)

Gravel road wasn't too bad and only about a mile.

Cold climb.

Cold mountain lake.

Day 6, Kancamagus Pass

We woke to the pitter patter of rain, well a little more than a pitter. So rain delay 1. So this morning we were delayed by weather. We camped at Blackberry Crossing National Forrest Campground and didn't get riding until 9:30am. Surprisingly for this early in the season we were not alone at the campground. I'd had enough rain riding from Durham to Naples. On the climb to Kancmagus Pass I started to think about my personal definitions of a Mountain. We live on Mt Frye(~750ft) but I don't think of that as a mountain, but Kancamagus(~2855ft) is a whole different story. So my working definition is a climb that takes over 1 hours is definitely a Mountain!
Try climbing at 2.5mph like this on two wheels:)

Smile of the Day, because the down hill was going to be fast!!

Day 5, hilly Naples Maine to Conway NH

Today was my biggest single day climb. Not one hill/mountain but a nice series totaling up to almost +5700ft in 49miles. Overcast and drizzly but actually not bad for this kind of ride. Only had to stop twice to clear my glasses so a tremendous improvement over yesterday:) All very lightly traveled roads made for a very low stress ride even without shoulders.  Smile of the Day was coming out of Naples at the bridge construction. While waiting to join the end of the traffic line a tractor trailer waved me in ahead of him then kept at least 5 car lengths back and a little horn toot at the end:)

The obligatory covered bridge shot.

Clearance restriction device, I made it, yeah.

HBO guy took our picture.
